Contracts

If you sign up for a contract, you will be liable for early termination fees (EFTs) should you decide to cancel your contract early. Consider whether a contract plan is ideal for you. If not, we recommend going month-to-month.

Customer Service

An internet provider should not provide great deals, but excellent customer service as well. A good customer service team will make your experience with the provider much more enjoyable.

• What will my connection speed be?

• How much data do I get?
  If you're someone who uses the internet mainly for surfing the 'net or checking your emails, you may not need a large data plan –thus decreasing the cost of your plan.

• What’s the monthly cost and minimum total cost?
  This is dependent on the type of plan and contract you take with the provider. Signing up for a longer-term contract could result in receiving a discount on installation fees and hardware.

Fiber
Fiber offers incredibly fast connections, with a symmetrical upload and download speed. While the top choice for many users, Fiber is only available in limited areas at the moment due to the infrastructure needed.

Cable
Fast and widely available, cable is available through most providers –delivering download speeds of up to 1000Mbps. Cable works through a shared connection within your neighborhood, so you may experience a slower connection when there is a lot of network congestion.

DSL
DSL is widely available and works through your existing phone lines. In some cases, this is one of the least expensive options, but speed is limited to 100Mbps.

4G LTE or 5G
A relatively new technology, this connection uses a wireless signal transmitted from a nearby cellular tower to connect your home. Speeds are high, and providers offer this connection at affordable prices. However, availability of this connection is limited.

Satellite
Satellite offers lower speeds than DSL, but it is widely available –even in rural locations. Connection is delivered to your home via a satellite service.
