Although the state is relatively well-connected, some counties still have low broadband coverage, and not all residents have equal access to affordable data. 94.1% of Georgians have access to a wired connection capable of 25 Mbps download speeds or faster, and there are just under 500,00 people in the state without access this level of connection. Despite Georgia’s 232 operational internet providers 286,000 residents do not have access to a single internet provider.
The most well-connected cities in Georgia are Cumming, Alpharetta, Lawrenceville, Decatur, and Marietta.
Nunez, Louvale, Siloam, Bluffton, and Rockledge, are the cities with the poorest connection in the state of Georgia, with no residents in any of these cities have access to a low-priced wired internet plan.
In 2018, state legislation launched the Georgia Broadband Deployment Initiative, which promotes and deploys broadband services throughout the state to unserved areas with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload speeds.
