With billions of dollars planned for new TV content across streaming platforms in the US, streaming is about to take a very large slice out of the home entertainment cake. With more than 20 on the market, which streaming platform is right for you? HomeLinkd takes a look at four of the best streaming TV services, and shares what they have to offer their subscribers.

Four of the top TV streaming services on the market

HBO Max

Recommended for:
Movie, TV and series fanatics who’d choose a movie night at home over a night out any day.

Price:
From $10 per month with ads, $15 with no ads.

HBO Platforms and streaming:
Up to 3 simultaneous streams; originals on offer; multiple platforms and devices to stream on including Amazon Fire, Roku, Android, Android TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, PlayStation 4, Macs and PCs, Samsung Smart TV, Xbox One, and TiVo.

HBO Content:
If HBO Max had a home, it would be on the stage of the annual Golden Globes. HBO Max is the king of content.

It has everything that HBO offers, and then some —including original content, award-winning shows, documentaries on global issues, and much-loved shows in comedy and drama like Veep, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Succession.

Massive movie blockbusters like Suicide Squad and Dune which are made by production powerhouses like Warner Brothers are also part of the content mix.

Peacock

Recommended for:
TV lovers who like a combination of live sport, documentaries, movies and originals.

Price:
Free! With some ads, of course. You can access Peacock Premium from $5 per month or $50 per year.

Peacock Platforms and streaming:
Peacock is one of the only well-known streaming services that offers a free version. You can stream on up to 3 devices at the same time, and the platforms you can stream on include Fire TV, Fire tablet, iPhone, iPad, Chromecast, Xbox, PlayStation 4 & 5, Smart TVs, Apple TV, Roku, and Xfinity.

Peacock Content:
Peacock has well known shows like 30 Rock, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night Live and Downtown Abbey—making your apartment the place to be on Friday nights.

In terms of movies, Peacock has a pretty awesome deal with Universal Films that allows paid Peacock customers to receive some films released in cinema on the same day.

Other films will be released to Peacock streamers just 45 days after their release in cinema, which is much faster than most.

Netflix

Recommended for:
Streamers who like quality originals with well-known actors and producers, as well as movie and TV staples.

Price:
From $15.50 per month for Netflix Standard and $20 for premium.Netflix Platforms and streaming:Stream up to 4 devices simultaneously on Android, iOS, web browsers, Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV, Nvidia Shield, Roku, Smart TVs, PS4, Xbox, and set top boxes.

Netflix Content:
Friends, Seinfeld, Brooklyn 99, Shawshank Redemption, The Lake House, The Revenant, House of Cards and many more –that’s what you can expect when it comes to TV and movie classics.

On the originals side, Netflix is pouring money into creating original movies and series that could rival those over at HBO Max, with a 2022 line-up costing around $17 billion.

Netflix’s stand-up comedy line-up is also something other streaming platforms simply can’t contend with. From Aziz Ansari to Michael Che to Jim Jeffries —Netflix holds all the cards when it comes to winning over stand-up fans.

Another arena Netflix excels in is true crime documentaries. Your friends may think your true crime obsession is strange, but Netflix doesn’t

Disney Plus

Recommended for:
Disney Plus is perfect for homes with kids or animation fanatics.

From $8 per month or $80 per year.Disney Plus Platforms and streaming:Stream on up to 4 devices at once —including Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets, Roku, Chromecast, iOS, iPadOS, Android, Android TV, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation 4, Android-based Sony Smart TVs, Chromebooks, Samsung and LG devices.

There’s a reason Disney has been around for more than a century: Their films, animation or not, connect with audiences around the world.

Disney films include the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe —with classics like The Parent Trap, Cruella, Remember The Titans, Mary Poppins, Frozen1 and 2 and more. Disney has also planned to spend $33 billion on content in 2022, so subscribers are in for a very expensive treat this year!
